Claude Code in Everyday Work: How to Use It as an SMB Leader
When people hear "command-line tool," most think of programmers. But Claude Code is surprisingly useful for business tasks too, without any programming knowledge. All you need to do is describe what you want in plain language, and the AI takes care of it.
This article isn't about coding. We'll show how Claude Code can be used by an SMB leader, a salesperson, an office manager, or anyone who wants to save time in their daily work.
How Does It Work in Practice?#
You use Claude Code through the terminal. You open it (on Mac it's the Terminal app, on Windows it's PowerShell) and type what you need. You don't have to learn any commands. Just write naturally, like you would talk to a colleague.
> Write a formal email to our supplier about the fact that
the last shipment was delayed by 3 days, and ask them to
confirm the next delivery.
Subject: Delivery Delay - Requesting Confirmation
Dear Partner,
Our shipment scheduled for February 8, 2026
arrived 3 business days later than the agreed
deadline. We understand that delays can occur
from time to time, however we would like to ask
you to confirm the next delivery planned for
February 20.
Please let us know if there are any obstacles
to meeting the deadline.
Best regards,
[Name]
That's it. No need to search for a template, no need to write the whole letter yourself. You described the key points and got a usable text that just needs to be personalized.
Email Drafts and Replies#
Writing emails is one of the biggest time sinks for SMBs. With Claude Code, you can create them in moments:
> Write an email to a potential client. Our company
does web development. The client is a 30-person
accounting firm looking to modernize their website.
Offer a free assessment.
> Our client complained that the software they ordered
loads slowly. Write a reassuring response acknowledging
the problem and letting them know we'll fix it
within 48 hours.
If you specify the desired tone, Claude Code adapts accordingly. For example: "formal but friendly," "short and to the point," or "informal and casual." It's worth setting your preferred style the very first time.
Creating Documents#
Proposals, summaries, internal policies, meeting notes: Claude Code can create all of them and save them to files.
> In today's meeting we discussed:
- Launching a new webshop by the end of March
- Kate is responsible for product photos
- Gabriel is coordinating shipping rates
- Next meeting next Monday at 10:00
Create a formatted meeting report from this and save it
as meeting-0213.md.
Claude Code creates the file with formatted headers, responsible parties, and deadlines. No need to open Word, no need to fuss with formatting.
> Create a proposal in a PDF-ready format.
Client: Molnar Ltd.
Project: Website redesign
Contents:
- Design: 150,000 HUF
- Development: 350,000 HUF
- Content upload: 80,000 HUF
- Monthly maintenance: 25,000 HUF/month
Payment terms: 50% upfront, 50% on delivery.

Spreadsheets and Data Analysis#
Claude Code handles structured data excellently. It can generate CSV files, analyze them, and create summaries.
> Create a CSV file from the following products:
Basic plan - 49,900 HUF - monthly
Pro plan - 99,900 HUF - monthly
Enterprise plan - 199,900 HUF - monthly
Include: name, price, frequency, annual price.
Save it as pricing.csv.
> Check the sales-q4.csv file and tell me:
- Which month had the highest revenue?
- Which product sold the most?
- Are there any trends in the data?
Claude Code can answer data-related questions in natural language. No need for VLOOKUP or pivot tables. Just ask, and you get the answer.
Translation and Localization#
If you work with international partners, translation is a regular task. Claude Code translates quickly and in context.
> Translate this email to German in a business style:
"Dear Partner, we would like to discuss the Q2
shipping terms. Could you send us an updated
price list?"
> Translate the content of the about-us.md file to German.
Keep the markdown formatting. Save it as
about-us-de.md.
The translation isn't just word-for-word: Claude Code understands business language conventions and writes in the natural style of the target language.
Presentation Outlines#
While Claude Code can't create PowerPoint files directly, it can put together the content and structure of a presentation in moments.
> Create an 8-slide presentation outline for our company's
annual results.
Data:
- Revenue: 180M HUF (last year: 145M HUF)
- Number of clients: 85 (last year: 62)
- New products: 3
- Team: grew from 12 to 18
Give each slide a title and 3-4 bullet points.
You can then simply copy the result into your presentation software.
Contract and Legal Text Drafts#
Claude Code can help create drafts, but always have legal documents reviewed by a lawyer before you sign or send them. AI does not replace legal advice.
> Create a simple service agreement draft.
Client: Example Ltd.
Contractor: Makeden Ltd.
Task: Website development
Deadline: April 30, 2026
Fee: 500,000 HUF + VAT
Please mark which parts need to be reviewed
by a lawyer.
Automating Your Daily Routine#
You can incorporate Claude Code into your daily routine. Open the terminal a few minutes earlier and take care of tasks like these:
| Task | Traditional time | With Claude Code |
|---|---|---|
| Writing 3 emails | 30 min | 5 min |
| Organizing meeting notes | 15 min | 3 min |
| Monthly report draft | 45 min | 10 min |
| Creating a proposal | 30 min | 8 min |
| Sorting CSV data | 20 min | 2 min |
| Daily savings | ~2.5 hours | ~30 min |
That's two hours saved per day. Ten hours per week. Forty per month.
Tips for Effective Use#
Provide context
The more information you give, the better the result. Don't just write "write an email" -- specify the recipient, the topic, the tone, and the important details.
Ask for alternatives
If the first version doesn't feel right, ask for another one: "that was too formal, write a more casual version." No need to start over -- Claude Code remembers the context.
Save good templates
If an email or document turns out well, ask it to save it as a template. Next time you can reference it: "use last year's proposal template."
Work with files
Claude Code can read and create files. Instead of pasting text, simply tell it where the file is: "look at the contents of contract.docx and create a summary."
Most people overthink how to phrase their request. Don't stress about it. Just write what you need in simple terms, and if the result isn't quite right, refine it. Claude Code understands natural, everyday language.
Summary#
Claude Code is not just a developer tool. If you're willing to open the terminal and type what you need, it can take a significant portion of your daily administrative tasks off your plate. Emails, documents, spreadsheets, translations, summaries: all can be handled with just a few lines of input.
The most important thing to understand: you don't need to know how to code. You just need to talk to the AI. In your own words.
If you'd like to try it out, or need help getting started, we're happy to show you in a live demo.
